The plant you’re referring to as “Blue Whistles water lily” is most likely a trade/market name, not a strict botanical species name. Sellers often use names like Blue Whistle / Blue Whistles / Blue Lotus interchangeably.
👉 In most cases, it refers to one of these real species:
Nymphaea micrantha (very common in India market)
Nymphaea nouchali (Neelkamal)
Sometimes even Nymphaea caerulea
So “Blue Whistles” = seller nickname, not scientific classification.
🌸 What “Blue Whistle” water lily looks like
Blue to violet star-shaped flowers
Floating round leaves
Blooms in sunlight, closes in evening
Grows in ponds, tubs, or terrace containers
These are true water lilies (genus Nymphaea) — not lotus (Nelumbo)
